Who’s Behind In Strict Tempo?
In Strict Tempo is written each week by Owen Kiernan. I’m currently Head of Digital at a UK House label (Cr2 Records) where I oversee all aspects of the release and promotional cycles.
Previously, I was Sales Manager at indie distributor Kudos Records, where I worked alongside some of the UK’s best independent labels including Athens of the North, Eglo Records, Hessle Audio, Swamp 81, Church, Be With Records, and many more.
Before that I spent six years behind the counter at HMV in the Trocadero in London, working the late shift until the store closed at midnight. I’ve also worked in the Notting Hill branch of Music & Video Exchange as well as at a music publishers (Westbury Music). Selling records is in my blood.

What Is In Strict Tempo?
It’s a weekly newsletter looking at issues in the music industry plus reviewing new (and sometimes old) music. I try to represent a reasonable selection of new music each week, but my tastes lean towards experimental, electronic, house, techno & post-punk. Views are obviously my own.
Why Subscribe?
The best reason I can give for subscribing is that you won’t miss a single newsletter if you do. Other than that, there’s no real benefits other than massaging my ego when I see the subscriber numbers rise. In Strict Tempo is free, and will continue to be so.
Can I Send You Music?
Of course - don’t worry about sending my physical copies of stuff as I know they’re expensive. A Dropbox, WeTransfer, Soundcloud or Spotify link will do.
